Concert

Event Details

Join us at the Goldsmith Atrium on February 23rd, 2025!

A free pre-show lecture by New York Arabic Orchestra‘s Artistic Director and violinist, Layth Sidiq, kicks off the event from 2:00 PM.

Then the Orchestra’s performance will showcase the full spectrum of Arabic musical expression, from traditional improvisations and fluid arrangements to contemporary pieces with elaborate harmonies and structures.

Their new program explores themes of love, heartbreak, nostalgia, and resistance, featuring original works (including one by NYAO’s late founder Bassam Saba), compositions from Arabic music’s golden era, and more recent creations. The ensemble features two vocalists and a rich tapestry of instrumentation, including traditional instruments like the Nay, Oud, and Qanun, alongside violin, piano, bass, and percussion.
